While 2010 was the year that android matured trough it’s early childhood, this year will be all about market saturation, we will see it grow with 3.0 and become something more than ios could ever be.
In other news we will also see a lot of technology mature and even though little might be released it will provide 2012 with great promises.
[stextbox id=”grey”]10. Firefox 4 will blow IE, chrome and opera out of the water[/stextbox]
Not really news or prediction, i have seen it and it’s no pushover, it’s fast and has all the bells and whistles you could ever need, all without feeling bloated, that could be why 46,23 of my readers use firefox, now i especially like the addition of WebGL and the new java script engine, it has real promises, that and about 10.000 other new stuff added to it.
[stextbox id=”grey”]9. Iphone 5 will not be a huge improvement compared to similar android devices[/stextbox]
Sure it will get a new A9 based cpu, but I’m betting that you could probably build a sizable pile of phones with the same cpu, in fact the first dual cores are already out and theres more to come.
Now don’t get me wrong, it will be a fairly high end piece of hardware but the Iphone has one Achilles heel, IOS, apple is a company that doesn’t revolutionize things that often, IOS is one of those things and it can’t really evolve without rewriting major parts of it, they won’t do it, but Google will and have in Android 3.0 and they can continue to innovate because of this.
Now in my Samsung Galaxy S i have Android 2.2.1 froyo installed and i can already do all the things all iPhones can + real multitasking + better apps + apps with pictures of scantly clad woman and more.
The big new thing with iPhone 4 was Facetime, but video calls is nothing new, my old Sonyericsson c702 could do that, and over 3G even, so sure the iPhone will get an upgrade, but it will be more of the same, because that’s the apple way.
[stextbox id=”grey”]8. Great movie year for people like me[/stextbox]
It starts with green hornet, rango, Battle: Los Angeles, Sucker Punch, rio, THor, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, Kung Fu Panda 2, X-Men: First Class, Green Lantern, Transformers: Dark of the Moon, Captain America: The First Avenger, Cowboys & Aliens, The Smurfs, Conan the Barbarian, Real Steel.
And that’s only the ones IMDB lists and i think has a great title.
[stextbox id=”grey”]7. The Internet will run out of space, soon[/stextbox]
My android app for that says that in 5 days, the Internet runs out of ip space, or about 23 million addresses, it’s a bit more complicated than that as those numbers refer to 256 huge blocks that internic hands out, and there are now only 7 left and the last five will be spread out across all of them.
So after Wednesday there will still be ip addresses left, but those will run our as well sometime this summer and then you either have to do some funky ip sharing stuff or switch to ipv6, me thinks there will be some chaos in doing this, at least im ready since i already have a ipv6 ready router.
[stextbox id=”grey”]6. More leaders in high places will be overthrown than ever, using the net[/stextbox]
It has happened twice already this year, well one of them is still ongoing, but still, what is the cheaper way to create democracy, a million man strong army or free facebook and twitter accounts.
[stextbox id=”grey”]5. First big screen devices using AMOLED, like monitors and smaller tvs[/stextbox]
Now by big screen were talking about 30″ and above and it’s about time.
[stextbox id=”grey”]4. Also tabs will use AMOLED, but not ipad2 or iphone5[/stextbox]
Simply put AMOLED rules, it’s still in it’s infancy while LCD displays are at the peak of whatever they could ever do and still they are about the same.
Though it’s odd that the iphone won’t use it since it’s so great, i guess they have invested heavily in their retina displays and won’t admit that it’s just an LCD display with slightly higher resolution, you know about 20%-25% more than the excellent AMOLED on my excellent SGS, but then again it’s apple.
[stextbox id=”grey”]3. More android stuff than you can shake an iphone at[/stextbox]
Yea, CES showed lots of android devices, lot’s of them. and judging from last years CES it’s not even half if it.
[stextbox id=”grey”]2. We will finally see what the new windows 8 OS can do[/stextbox]
With what windows 7 did to vista (not that vista was particularly horrible) i am eager to find out what win 8 will be like, but if i could request one feature that’s been bothering me then that would be to treat different devices you plug in individually, like downloading pictures in different folders depending on camera, either way im pretty sure it will be good.
[stextbox id=”grey”]1. Nikon D4 announced, brings awesome[/stextbox]
anything less would be a failure, besides, Nikon has been filing all these interesting little patents all year last year so it might be pretty good.
I am expecting a high base iso number, high frame rate, video mode, even a full frame one and maybe a super fast 120FPS burst mode.
[stextbox id=”grey”]5. Home automation is getting some light[/stextbox]
And im not talking about remote speakers or a wireless light switch.
[stextbox id=”grey”]4. A slew of hybrid cars starts selling[/stextbox]
They are the future, so why not.
[stextbox id=”grey”]3. HDR cameras start coming out of the woodwork[/stextbox]
So are these, basically 9-10 stops of dynamic range is to low, i demand at least the double
[stextbox id=”grey”]2. Microsoft announce an appstore for windows[/stextbox]
It would make perfect sense
[stextbox id=”grey”]1. Google tv fails, moves to android instead[/stextbox]
Well they had some problems with it, first and foremost that it tries to fit in everything at once and that search is it’s primary mode, they have to slim it down before beefing it up.
Unlikely but possible
[stextbox id=”grey”]5. Apple is forced to open up their iphone/ipad app developer SDK a bit[/stextbox]
That would be nice
[stextbox id=”grey”]4. Nikon D4 will have a revolutionary new sensor and no mirror[/stextbox]
No mirror means higher frame rate and less camera shake, and new sensor, especially an HDR one would be great
[stextbox id=”grey”]3. Big cheap AMOLED tv line announced[/stextbox]
This might be possible
[stextbox id=”grey”]2. Someone will make an amazing device with android previously not thought of[/stextbox]
We got phones, tabs, cars, headphones, fridges, tv’s and so on, so for it to be amazing it has to be somewhere unrelated to computers and general tech and actually enhance it, like a fishing rod or a white board.
[stextbox id=”grey”]1. Apple announces home automation hardware[/stextbox]
They will talk about airplay, but it has to be more than that, way more.
